Amit Ohri

Amit learned to play the sport in the streets of Delhi, India, 1986. Upon his return to the UK 2 years later, he knew he had a talent and love for the game and should pursue it. He continued playing cricket through his middle and high school years including junior club cricket as well as being coached by U13 and U16 Surrey cricket coaches who recognized his talent in Dulwich, South East England. He soon developed into a fast pace bowler. He would often get 3-6 wickets in a game and on one occasion, managed to bowl out an entire team for his high school for under 10 runs. He quickly became a proficient allrounder (batting, bowling and fielding) and had built up 20+ years playing history before injuries started to set-in.

During his playing career, Amit was fortunate to have trained and played with U19 Surrey County players especially during his time at Purley Cricket Club. He then joined other clubs and continued to practice his skills with other colleagues and friends at the Kensington Oval and Lords Cricket facilities, London, UK. Often, he was chosen as a practice bowler to bowl at the Surrey and England International players when they were also training at the facilities – Alec Stewart, Nasser Hussain, Graham Thorpe and Mike Atherton to name a few.

With Amit’s clear passion and dedication, he has been recognized by Cricket Australia attaining his first formal National Coaching accreditation towards his coaching career.

Last but not least, he loves to continue to learn not just teach. He furthered his credibility by attaining his ECB Level 2 Coaching Certification by visiting England and coaching at his former club, HSBC Cricket Club and attending the course at Leeds Beckett University, 2020.

He hopes to continue his passion for cricket but through coaching as the next chapter to his cricketing career.
